Our audio and video system at Our Lady of Peace will be extensively upgraded and updated in a few weeks. This upgrading will limit our access to Our Lady of Peace Church for a few days next month. Please note the following changes.
- The 8:30 morning mass, as well as any other Mass that may be necessary – such as funerals – from Monday 10 November through Saturday 15 November will be celebrated at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church.
- There will be no period of Exposition, Adoration, or Benediction on Tuesday 11 November at either Our Lady of Peace Church or at Notre Dame de Lourdes.
Thank you for your flexibility with the needs of our parish facilities. We look forward to the upgrade in quality of our audio and video equipment here at Our Lady of Peace, and we thank all who have made this upgrading possible. Also, we thank our parish school community for hosting us at ND for that week. Blessings to all!
Our sixth-grade students at Notre Dame de Lourdes are once again coordinating the annual Stockings for Soldiers campaign. Boxes for this collection are located at the entrances of our Churches. Items for the collection must be in place by November 2. That is next weekend – Eek! Sorry for the quick turnaround. Thank you for your generosity, your prayers, and your support of the members of our military serving so proudly, loyally, and dedicatedly throughout the world. Suggested items for donation include:
Small individual sized packaged meals, bricks of ramen noodles, flavored drink mixes, chewing gum, granola bars, fruit snacks, cookies, nuts, candy, pretzels, trail mix, toothbrushes w/ small tubes of toothpaste, lip balm, razors, crew socks, foot powder, DVD movies, CDs, pocket games, puzzles, crosswords, sudoku, pens, greeting cards, or letters of appreciation.
Our Christmas Bazaar will be conducted soon – Friday 14 November and Saturday 15 November at Nelson Hall. The Bazaar will conclude on Sunday 16 November with Coffee Sunday / Breakfast with Santa after the 9:30 am Mass. Thank you for your generous donations and for your support of our annual Christmas Bazaar. Thanks also to our many parishioners who have, for the past three months, planned and organized our Christmas Bazaar. Two months until Christmas!
Thank you to all who have returned your updated census cards. It is essential to have the most current information about you and your needs. Thanks also for your generous response to our annual Block Collection. Your generosity to our parish makes the updating to our facilities – such as the new audio and visual equipment – possible. Thanks!
Reflection Questions and Mass Readings for the 30th Ordinary Sunday – Cycle C – 26 October 2025
Sirach 35:12-14, 16-18 – Do you play favorites? What are the benefits of that? What are the pitfalls? / What does “unduly” mean? Is it surprising that the Lord is not unduly partial to the weak? / Sirach describes prayer like a text message that keeps pinging until God responds. How does that make you feel? / Compare and contrast this reading with last weekend’s Gospel (Luke 18:1-8)
Psalm 34:2-3, 17-18, 19, 23 – The Lord hears the cry of the poor. – Why does our singing the praises of the Lord uplift the spirit of those who hear us? (See Acts 16:25-31)
2nd Timothy 4:6-8, 16-18 – Why does St. Paul describe the faith as a competition? For what is he competing? What is he competing against? How well are you competing for the faith? Who is your competition?
Luke 18:9-14 – Why does St. Luke describe the Pharisee as speaking his prayer to himself? To whom do you speak when you pray? / Justification means that we have a right to the blessings that God invites us to receive. Why was the tax collector justified? Are you justified?
