Thank you to all who patronized, organized, volunteered, donated, or took part in our annual Christmas Bazaar. The event featured delicious food, crafts, vendors, an abundance of gift baskets, and a warm festive Christmas atmosphere. Our new tables at Nelson Hall looked spiffy! Many thanks also to our Notre Dame School students and our PREP students who made welcoming banners to display at the Bazaar as well as crafts for sale. New, for this year, was the extension of the Bazaar by one day to coordinate the closure of the Bazaar with our monthly Coffee Sunday. Breakfast with Santa was a nourishing and fitting way to bring a conclusion to this significant Parish fundraiser and social gathering. We thank our Drama students for their caroling at the breakfast and we thank Santa and Mrs. Claus for taking time out of their busy schedules to be with us.
The work on the new audio system at Our Lady of Peace Church has been completed. The new system features a new microphone at the lectern, upgraded handheld microphones, and a lavalier microphone which gives us the ability to use multiple sound sources simultaneously. The lavalier microphone allows for movement through the worship space without interrupting the quality of sound. This is essential especially for major Solemnities of our Liturgical Year or when a Bishop celebrates with us, such as for Confirmation. An additional feature is the ability for music to be played through the system thus setting a reverential tone for moments of peaceful meditation and personal prayer. The video upgrade has not yet been completed but should be in place presently. The overall cost of the project was $24,000. Thank you for your financial generosity to our parish needs that made this upgrade possible. May God bless you most abundantly.
Our Thanksgiving Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Peace Church this Thursday morning at 8:30. All are most welcome. We give thanks to God for the graces and blessings we have received this year, and we acknowledge his omnipotence and his unconditional love. The following is a Thanksgiving prayer from the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
“Father in Heaven, Creator of all and source of all goodness and love, please look kindly upon us and receive our heartfelt gratitude in this time of giving thanks. Thank you for all the graces and blessings you have bestowed upon us, spiritual and temporal: our faith and religious heritage, our food and shelter, our health, the love we have for one another, our family, and our friends. Dear Father, in your infinite generosity, please grant us continued graces and blessings throughout the coming year. This we ask in the Name of Jesus, your Son, and our Savior. Amen.”
This weekend’s Solemnity of Christ the King brings us to the final week of the Liturgical year. Locally we have faced the challenges of the closure of the Crozer Healthcare System and the impact that the closure of hospitals and healthcare facilities has had on obtaining adequate and timely treatment. As this Jubilee Year of Hope draws to its conclusion, we pray that we remain people of hope, rooted in the Resurrection and guided by the light of our Savior.
