Thank you for your generous participation in the Stockings for Soldiers collection sponsored by the sixth-grade class at Notre Dame de Lourdes School. Your generosity will enable those serving so valiantly in defense of our country and its principles to feel the warmth of your care, support and encouragement during the Christmas season. Thank you again.
Tomorrow, 11 November is Veterans’ Day. We pray for all who have served our country in all the branches of the military. May you be respected and richly blessed for the service you provided to our country. The following prayer is from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
“Lord God, Almighty Father, creator of mankind and author of peace, as we are ever mindful of the cost paid for the liberty we possess, we ask you to bless the members of our armed forces. Give them courage, hope, and strength. May they ever experience your firm support, gentle love and compassionate healing. Be their power and protector, leading them from darkness to light. To you be all glory, honor, and praise, now and forever. Amen.”
Thank you to everyone who helped to plan, prepare, minister, and serve at our annual Memorial Commemoration for our recently deceased members of Our Lady of Peace Parish. Thank you to Deacon John Ellis, Sr. for your work with the invitations and for the blue remembrance candles. Thank you to our parish staff for providing the booklets for the Mass. Thank you to Kathryn, and Marta for the beautiful and comforting music for the liturgy. Thank you to Donna Kowal for the beautiful calligraphy cards inscribed with the names of our beloved deceased. Thank you to Marvil / Lyons Funeral Home for providing the lovely prayer cards of comfort and remembrance. Thank you to Deacon Charlie Amen for your words of strength, and consolation during the liturgy. The blue candles will remain in our sanctuary throughout the month of November as a reminder of the light that those individuals have shared with us and the light that will lead them into the Kingdom of Light and Peace.
“Into your hands, O Lord, we humbly entrust our beloved deceased. In this life you embraced them with your tender love, deliver them from every evil and bid them enter eternal rest. Welcome them into paradise, where there will be no sorrow, no weeping nor pain, but the fullness of peace and joy with your Son and the Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen.” – United States Conference of Catholic Bishops
The Christmas Bazaar will be celebrated at Nelson Hall on the Notre Dame de Lourdes campus this Friday evening, 15 November from 6pm – 9pm; and Saturday, 16 November from 9am – 3pm. Thank you to all who have organized and planned for the activities, baskets and the diversity of table displays at the Bazaar. Thanks also to those who provided for our kitchen needs and those who will volunteer there. Thank you for your attendance and support of our Parish Christmas Bazaar.
The Winter Fest will be held at Our Lady of Peace campus on Saturday evening, 30 November, the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Please join us for a festive evening to enter the spirit of the Advent and Christmas seasons.
Finally, a thank you to all who have returned your census cards and have contributed so generously to our annual Block Collection. The census cards provide us with an accurate snapshot of our parishioners, their needs, and their contact information. Being a registered member of a parish community is a requirement for godparenting and to be a Confirmation sponsor. Therefore, accurate census information makes this possible and seamless. Thank you, and you may still return census information and, or the Block collection either to the rectory or in the Sunday collection basket. Blessings!
